Jennifer and Liz Earnest


Liz and Jennifer Earnest have worked together for more than 10 years. Liz started one of Jacksonville’s preeminent catering companies, The Chef’s Garden, after Jennifer went off to college. Impressed by the business her mom built and eager to help grow the brand, Jennifer traded grad school for life lessons and fully immersed herself in The Chef’s Garden in 2005. Ten years later, the mother-daughter duo has expanded The Chef’s Garden’s capabilities to include both catering, events, and now restaurants. The Chef’s Garden Catering and Events has an exclusive catering relationship with the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, manages the Cummer Café, and hosts a highly popular monthly dinner experience: CG Dinner Club.

The Earnests’ business model has always been grounded in paying it forward and community service. In 2013, the two met Pete and Allison Berringer, and together they started dreaming of revitalizing Downtown with a concept unlike any other. The rest, as they say, is history in the making. Today, they are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of restoring Downtown Jacksonville to a food and event destination by adding The Candy Apple Café & Cocktails to their brand portfolio. They are excited to welcome partners Allen and Ellen Cottrill to the team.
